About the Hume surname

Believed to originally have come from Norway with Vikings from the name 'Holm' meaning house. There was a Border clan between England and Scotland based near Berwick in the early 1200's from which nearly all Hume's are descended. This had its own Tartan and castle. One Hume went with Captain Cook on his famous discovery of Australia. One was Bishop of Salisbury in the 1700's. I am an adopted Hume in 1958 and would like to find out relatives of Frederick Hume born 1816. Relatives of Nathaniel Hume born approx 1732 and how it is that my family side is Church of England and yet there was a Roman catholic cardinal called Basil Hume in the late 1900's.
