The name Pestana comes from the ancient Greek town of Paestum, Italy. It literally means inhabitant of Paestum. It's where you can find the best preserved ancient Greek temples in the world (to Hera, Poseidon, and Aphrodite, I believe). I'm pasting the links to the historical documents showing this.
