Sodhi is a Jatt and Khatri Kshatriya clan of Punjab (India).
Seven of the Sikh Gurus (from Guru Ram Das to Guru Gobind Singh) belonged to the Sodhi clan.
In his autobiography, Vichitra Natak, Guru Gobind Singh gives an account of the origin of the Sodhi clan. A son of Lava, son of Lord Shri Rama, moved to Sanadh region where he married the king's daughter. His descendants moved to Madra Desh (now called Punjab), and came to be called Sodhi.[1]
The Sodhi clan is mostly found in Malwa (Punjab) (Mohali, Ludhiana, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib, Faridkot, Sangrur, etc.), Doaba (Jallandhar, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahar, Kapurthala, etc.) and some parts of Majha(Amritsar, Batala, Pathankot, Tarn Taran Sahib).
