Sweden
The Suhoinen family came from Savolax in Finland to Värmland in the 17th century. The roots probably go back to the Urals in the 15th century.
Finland belonged to Sweden until 1809 and everything was written in Swedish, including names. However, the population spoke Finnish and used Finnish names when addressing each other. The name Suhoinen is recorded both by Carl Axel Gottlund and Nordmann. In Finland, the family is called Suhonen. Information about the Suhoinen family is taken from Arne Linnarud's book "Suhoinen, The oldest branches of a Värmland-Finnish family with pedigrees up to the present day".
