Thomas Eames - 1618

That person said that Thomas had another name?? Anyone else find that?

I am descended from Thomas Emes (1618-1680) and his parents Captain Anthony Emes and Margery Emes (maiden name Dean) but have not attempted to research English origins until now. I have an original copy of the 1900 publication "Memorial of the Bi-Centennial Celebration of the Incorporation of the Town of Framingham Massachusetts" but it is short on pre 1700 details. Since the Melissa King post of Dec 23, 2013 have any other leads come to light?

1. The father of Thomas Eames (1618-1680) is Capt. Anthony Eames (c1592-1686) who died in Marshfield, Plymouth Colony. See Capt. Anthony Eames

2. There is a 1699 map of Framingham entitled "Plan of Framingham Plantation 1699 Compiled from sources made by J. Gore & J. Sherman & specifications in deeds and grants." The map, by Josiah H. Temple was published opposite the title page of the 252 page hardback illustrated 1900 publication of "Memorial of the Bi-Centennial Celebration of the Town of Framingham Massachusetts June, 1900", John H. 3. This 1699 map shows Thomas Eames' large plot of land east of Farm Pond along with the date 1677 (the year following the massacre of many of the younger members of the Thomas Eames family the previous year). The map also labels the location of the farms of the three male survivors of the massacre, namely Nathaniel Eames, Samuel Eames and Zachariah Paddleford. Those three farms are southeast of Farm Pond and are adjacent to one another near the southern part of the Thomas Eames plot . The hill just north of Farm Pond is labelled "MT WAYT", an abbreviation for "Mount Wayte", named after the Wayte family whose 300 acre farm was immediately west of Farm Pond. Mount Wayte is the location of the 1890 Eames memorial about the 1676 massacre. On the 1699 map just east of MT. WAYT at the north end of Farm Pond is the label "J. Eames". There were several John Eames as of 1699 but tentatively this label is thought to refer to John Eames, son of Thomas Eames who was deceased by 1699. The farm is the location of the 1676 massacre.

The Eames name DOES get adjusted. I have not seen "Ainge" as one of the spellings but the father of Thomas Eames who lived in Plymouth Colony spelled his name "Ames". The descendants of Thomas Eames who moved to Canada in 1802 spelled their name "Emes". All of these folks are from the same family.
