This deceased person John Browne, I believe to be my direct ancestor. All the facts fit except the wife listed here. Perhaps he had more than one wife but the wife of his who is my direct ancestor is Ruth McQueen. She was the daughter of Dugal McQueen and Grace Brown.

Dugal McQueen was a former Highland Scot who was banished from Scotland during the Jacobite Rebellion. He and members of his family/clan supported a Stuart being returned to the throne of England. For this he and many of his family/clan were either killed or sold as indentured servants to pay for passages to colonists in the American colonies. Dugal was sold to a very kind man who treated Dugal well and they later became friends. Dugal worked for a Mr. Holland for 7 yrs to pay for his passage on board the ship ironically named "Friendly". He met Grace Browne, fell in love with her and married her. She was the daughter of the much beloved colonist Thomas Brown, the "Patuxent" ranger and Katharine Harris.

How many wives correct? Common name!

FaG only lists McQueen.

I am working from DNA match and merging obvious duplicates as I go.
