Charles W and Henry both fought in the 73rd Illinois Infantry Regiment, Company K (Jackson County). Charles W served as a musician and was discharged / disabled December 16th, of 1862. Both joined in August, 1862. Henry Isham (his gravestone says "J" as I think someone must have mistaken "i" for "J" at some point in the paperwork) died in January, 1863. They both would have fought in the battle of Perryville, KY the first battle of the 73rd Regiment. The site https://civilwar.illinoisgenweb.org/reg_html/073_reg.html shows that Henry died of disease, which could have been a wound and infection from a severed limb. Charles W was discharged / disabled, which shows he lost a limb: arm or leg / foot or hand. I would like to know more about Charles W as he was a musician: did he play a bugle, or a drum or a fife? Such a treasured knowledge since I am a drummer myself.
