As of this date, R' A HaLevi Epstein has 62 living yDNA descendants listed in GENI, the most recent born in 2016. yDNA testing of one or more of these descendants would be a valuable addition to this family tree's knowledge base. If a person reading this is qualified to make the test and is willing to do so, please reply to this discussion.

is there a descendant by the name Reuven Shmuel Zev son of Avraham Segel from Erlangen? lived around the early 1800's. Please contact me at chayarabinowitz@yahoo.com. thanks,

Itzhak Epstein could maybe do a y-dna test.

The administrators of the Epstein project on FTDNA may be able to help: https://www.familytreedna.com/groups/epstein/dna-results I believe that Itzhak has already tested, but has not uploaded the ydna result to GENI.

I am a descendent of R. Avraham Epstein and the project administrator of the FTDNA Taunus lineage project. See: https://www.familytreedna.com/groups/taunus/dna-results. 57 of its members belong to hg R-L408 et al. About 20 additional FTDNA customers match them but do not belong to the Taunus project.

Thirteen Taunus project members tested on FTDNA's Big Y and the results can be seen by other Big Y participants.

My sub clade's four defining SNPs are R-BY96876 et al. Because none (with the exception of my fourth cousin) of the project's members can trace his ancestry back enough, we cannot identify R. Avraham Epstein's defining SNP. Known descendants who want to see where they belong on this chart should participate in FTDNA's Big Y. The current discount will be helpful.
