I was tracing a pathway that includes this William Hunt, who seems to be well-documented as the son of Robert Hunt and Elizabeth Edwards. However, in my Geni search, I came across this profile:

William Hunt, of Isle of Wight County

which in the About section describes him basically as this same person. He is connected to one of the documented wives of the Capt. William Hunt of this profile who isn't connected to him here:

Judith Parker

Judith Burton is listed on Find-a-Grave and other sites as a wife of this Capt. William Hunt, but the wife connected to him - Anne Tyler - isn't. The only two wives I see on such sites are Judith Burton and Anne Harris.

I don't know these lines, so I can't make sense of whether people are mixing up two Williams Hunts and their wives or what. I can only tell that these two Williams are connected to different parents and the wives seems to be mixed up between the two Williams. ?

The notes in the About section on this profile:

Ann Harris

indicate Capt. William wasn't married to Judith Burton as is listed on sites like Find-a-Grave but doesn't provide any documentation for the wife Anne Tyler. In fact, the link in her About section to Sally's Place seems to support wife Judith Burton, not Anne Tyler:

https://sallysfamilyplace.com/judith-burton-william-hunt-richard-pa...

and the link in Anne Tyler's About section to Find-a-Grave no longer works. When I click it, the page says the page has been removed .

Bottom line, I had to stop my trek on the pathway I was researching because I don't know if these are two different men or the same man with incorrect connections. I don't know which wives are accurate. Mainly, I'm unclear who the true mother is for:

Henry Hunt, of Barbados

if Anne Tyler wasn't actually a documented wife for Capt. William Hunt.

Any help in clarifying and making any corrections that might need to be made would be appreciated. Thanks.

Also, as far as Henry Hunt, of Barbados is concerned...his About section has absolutely nothing. He is where I had to stop due to the whole issue of who his mother might be, but in reality there is nothing in his Abouot section documenting his connection to either parent.

Everybody needs to be very careful with Hunts, because there are so many of them and they're all over the place. All I can say for sure is this lot are *not* Eastern Shore Hunts.

Another trek brought me back here again today and I see everything is as it was when I posted in June.

My thought on such unproven connections and so much speculation is it's always best to disconnect what can't be proven. Lines can always be reconnected if documentation is discovered. Meanwhile, leaving it as it is just gives unproven pathways on Geni, which does no one any good.

Well, I'm back again with the same question about the wives of this Capt. William Hunt,...sigh

Debbie Gambrell - can you be specific on curator action requested? Thanks!

Well, I wasn't specifically seeking curator action. When I start a discussion it's 'usually' meant for the profiles managers and any any assigned curator who might be able to help. I think I made it clear in my my original post that I couldn't find any proof of Capt. William Hunt being married to Anne Tyler.

What brought me here again earlier today was that a DNA match's line on Ancestry goes back to this Capt. William Hunt but I don't have him married to Anne Tyler in my tree. As I traced back, I reach Capt. William and I ran into the same issues I've already posted about since 2021. It's not all fresh on my mind at this point. All I can do is repost what I already had, for example, his Find-a-Grave page doesn't list the Tyler wife:

https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/34448375/william-hunt?

states:

Son of Rev. Robert Hunt and Elizabeth Edwards

Husband of Sarah Ann (prob. Harris) and Judith Burton

Like I said, it's not all as fresh on my mind as it was in 2021 and I've already moved on from the match I was working on when I last posted at 7:06 pm this evening. That cousin is descended from Henry Hunt, of Barbados and my primary question this evening was if his father wasn't married to a wife named Anne Tyler, who was Henry's mother?

So to copy and paste from my 2021 post:

Bottom line, I had to stop my trek on the pathway I was researching because I don't know if these are two different men or the same man with incorrect connections. I don't know which wives are accurate. Mainly, I'm unclear who the true mother is for:

Henry Hunt, of Barbados

Thanks, Erica.

This site mentions Capt. William's wives Judith Burton and Sarah but not Anne Tyler:

The layout is a bit difficult for me to follow, but I don't see a son named Henry under either of those wives, which is why I wonder if Henry is maybe connected to the wrong William Hunt as his father. Maybe there is another William Hunt who did marry an Anne Tyler.

OK, what you want is the mother of Henry Hunt of Barbados.

I don’t even see him.

??

Never mind, he’s here.

Henry Hunt, of Barbados

And died young. :). (Or his dates are verplunkt)

So what you really want are the parents of Marjorie Macklendon

For her, I tag Linda Kathleen Thompson, (c) to see if she cam clarify and help you source.

So far I do not find Henry Hunt listed as a son of William Hunt, of Charles City County

Disconnecting.

I am confident about the Geni work I did for Judith Parker She was not married to the other William Hunt, and her profile notes are good.

Honestly, just by resolving data conflicts for Henry Hunt, the whole tree became a lot clearer. He was born 1615 so he’s an emigrant from England or Scotland to Barbados; his daughter married a man with a Scottish name, so that’s a fair guess for Henry Hunt also. But time & place & name could put him anywhere in Europe really.

Now you have something to research. Start with emigrants to Barbados.

I agree. I have Judith as his wife in my tree. I'm glad you researched a conclusion about Henry because that's where my bump in the road was. Thanks so much, Erica.

It wasn’t even research. Just studying the profile and noticing the date problem, which was easily solvable.

Typo...I'm tired. lol I meant 'reached' rather than 'researched'.

I should have said - thank you, I had worked really hard on it. :)

Many HUNT births here. Helpful in sorting who belongs to whom.
