Are there primary sources for this last name, parents and an additional husband John Clark?

John Clark

Thank you

I have not seen any sources for her maiden name as White or any sources that she's the daughter of Dr. Robert White.

Dr. Robert White is the husband of my 7th Great Aunt, Margaret Hoge. Their children are well documented and they don't have a daughter named Mary Ann. They lived in Winchester, Frederick County, Virginia.

Barb

Barbara Price, A509195 - do you have a good list handy of Dr Robert White’s children?

Disconnecting Mary Martin as his child & also as wife of John Clark

As soon as you all write that the children of her and Henry Martin are correct on Geni, happy to lock relationships.

Erica Howton yes. Henry and Mary Ann (unknown)'s children are correct. I have tried to put them in birth order but someone must be locked:

1. Reuben Martin
2. Jacob Martin
3. Peter Martin
4. Samuel Martin
5. Sarah Agnes Martin
6. Agnes Martin
7. Benjamin Martin,

I will look through the information that I have in the morning, I do medical sales and I've been out in the field all day today and drove over 200 miles, I am tired!

I can’t see a source for birthdate for Jacob Martin that needs editing according the the list.

Also note the answer to the wife query

“ A family tree on familysearch.org lists Nancy Naoma Coody 1742-1821 as his wife and has this one source. The Germanna Record, Memorial Foundation of the Germanna Colonies in Virginia, Inc., Vol #1, July 1961, research by B. C. Holtzclaw, University of Richmond.”

Jacob Martin is a suspected, but unconfirmed child of Henry Martin and his wife Mary.

My documented family is Jacob Martin + wife Mary (no known last name) via their son Charles Martin and his second wife Nancy Sandy. I have created my own Jacob Martin family which is documented. If you can DOCUMENT to this family please join me .... things are so mixed up it was the only course I could decide on ..... I strongly believe my Jacob Martin is a son of Henry Martin, who was a son of John Joseph Martin (Johann Jost Merten) of Germanna Colony but it is not PROVEN, therefore I have not listed a father for my Jacob Martin.

If you all can see this, good notes, cites Germanna

II. Jacob Martin No. 2 This Jacob Martin is shown constantly in the personal taxes from 1784 through 1796.

The Nay we see at “Mary Ann Nay” may very well be computer speak turning “née” (as in maiden name is …) to Nay,

I’m a little suspicious of Nancy Naoma Coody as there’s a Cherokee gal by that name born 1762, daughter of Archibald Coody,

The Francis Marion Martin profile is confused here.

https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/G7VV-LJ6

https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/GSH6-3S2

IMPORTANT NOTE: A reckless user changed Mary's name and vitals, making her an entirely different person, then released all of her known children! I have restored his vital information to the last entry. Will those who are working this line please reattached children with known relationships.

I’ll confirm that Nancy Neoma Coody Is probably not part of this Martin tree.

FamilySearch has Nancy b 1742 as child of Archibald Coody b 1696.

But this tree shows shows a much later Archibald and Nannie

http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~talbotfamilyhistory/genealogy/14697.htm

So something is not looking good, and if you choose to continue this Jacob Martin, I’m guessing his wife was Mary unknown.

I have all but given up on FS

And Rootsweb since they changed their search button

Source for DOB for Jacob Martin comes from teh Germanna Record #1:

John Joseph Martin of Germanna and Germantown, Charles Herbert Huffman, (Germanna Record #1 (Harrisonburg, VA: Memorial Foundation of the Germanna Colonies in Virginia, Inc., July 1961)), 52.

I will work on Jacob Martin right now

Mary Martin Needs to be Mary Ann per Germanna database. Nit picking, I know but might make a difference and it is what is in their records

I would want to know about the original birth record. What’s in the database can go in AKA for Geni, meanwhile. My experience is the addition of “Ann” is not so German. We can expect double barreled given names (Anna Maria [etc]) but Mary Ann is contemporary to the later 1800s and the 1900s. So let’s hold off, and get rid of the extra Nancy Neoma. :)

There is not one COODY in the Germanna database

Erica Howton her name is noted as
Mary Ann _

Rootsweb was deliberately choked off by Ancestry. We could see that coming many years ago. I love FS records and books.

On the marriage record?

With regards to this Jacob Jacob Martin I have no idea.... I was working on Jacobs in general lol and did not do really anything on him. This was on Saturday.
I cannot find the wife Nancy Naoma Martin nor the two children of these names Richard Francis Marion Martin Nancy Wright in the database but I have been fairly conservative in trying to not orphan profiles as I go

Yes, the records at FS are very good and searchable and is their saving grace for many of the lines that are so confusing... like Germanna and Native American lines and African American lines

Here’s the real Nannie Coody:

Nancy "NAOMA" Clements

Erica Howton nice! She was in Georgia. Definitely not Virginia

I do know that a lot of early colonists would marry Native American women but I do not know if Germanna has records of specifically Native American persons
Maybe Barbara Price, A509195 can speak to this.
I know there are African American descendants of Germanna colonists and this is an area of increasing interest to get these lines into Geni

Sometimes I will correct a profile or a line for one of my ancestors in FS because I really do want to have these platforms all be reconciled to each other. Each has value.
With Rootsweb, it is difficult to search and many of the links are lost or broken and there is no way to interact with anyone who has added them. I don't trust public trees.

Barbara Price, A509195 has been adding marriage records, etc, to some of these profiles.
It is wonderful Germanna has access to and holds so much information.

Maybe there is a marriage record for Mary Martin ...

This is who FS has linked as their only source for a Francis Marion Martin: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/59146765/francis-martin

and there is a NOte that he is someone's grandfather but I have no idea. I have disconnected Jacob and said children from Nancy Naoma Martin Will try to figure out WHO they are but not likely Germanna.

I disconnected from spouse of Naoma. I do not know who they are but I am working on Martins in Virginia, specifically Germanna colonists and descendants, so I sent an ADD MANAGER invite to the manager f the Naoma Martin Rogers profile to take over management of this profile. I have no objection to him reattaching him to Naoma and the children. They are definitely NOT Germanna.
Thank you for bringing them back to my attention, Erica Howton
