@Temperance Thomas (Calvert) was NOT related to Lord Baltimore, nor was she related to any of the Calvert's that lived in Stafford, Prince William, or Prince George Cos, VA.

y-DNA proves that!

Temperance was the daughter of William Colvard, Jr. and Mercy Holland. William's parents, William Calvert and the widow Temperance Robins married in York Co, VA in 1728 and had four sons-- William Jr., Benjamin, Thomas, and John Butterworth Calvert aka Colvard. y-DNA-67 from direct-line-male descendants of all four sons prove that William Colvard Jr, father of Temperance Calvert, was NOT related to Lord Baltimore. Nor was William Calvert/Colvard related to the Calvert's of Stafford, Prince William, or Prince George, Cos, Virginia.

Mercy Holland's parents were Michael Holland and Judith Pleasants. Judith Pleasants was born in Albemarle Co, VA.

William Calvert/Colvard Jr. was born between 1732-36 in York Co, VA. His father, William Calvert made his living as a blacksmith and was a member of William Byrd's 2nd expedition in September 1728 to determine the "Dividing Line Betwixt Virginia and North Carolina." He died in 1744 and his wife, Temperance Calvert, married Warham Easley in an attempt to keep her four young sons together.

William Colvard Jr. witnessed a deed for Thomas Pleasants in Goochland Co, VA in September 1752. Also, in 1761, William Colvard Jr. sold 400 acre patent with "...meadows, feeding mills, water mills and water courses... to Thomas Pleasants of Louisa County for accounts due, also on both sides of south branch of Pamunkey River, a tract containing 400 acres and granted to Jon Garth, also several chattles for L1480. (Edward Pleasants Valentine Papers, Vol. 2, Pub. by The Valentine Museum. Richmond, VA p. 1144).

William and Mercy Colbard/Colbert/Colvard's first six children are listed in The Douglas Register of Reverend William Douglas of St. James Northem Parish (Dover Church) in Goochland Co, VA. Elizabeth b. 1759, Neil b. 1761, William b. 1762, Betty b. 1765, Nancy b. 1765, and Damaris b. 1769. Their other children were born in North Carolina.

Their last two children: Jesse was born in 1771 and Temperance was born in 1775 in Surry Co, NC. She died on Oct 1, 1874 in Cherokee Co, NC. In North Carolina Temperance Calvert/Colvard married Richard Thomas. Temperance was the mother of William Holland Thomas.

William Holland Thomas is buried in the Campground Cemetery, established in 1856 in Cherokee County, NC. A bronze tablet on the family plot in Waynesville, NC reads: "His mother was Temperance Calvert [sic] of English descent, a Grand-niece of Lord Baltimore, the founder of Maryland." [This is an INCORRECT statement, and made prior to y-DNA.]
