Hi Rod, thanks for this. Much of what I know I got from research done by someone who had bought a house in Liverpool, which turned out to be the former home of William Marchant Smith (Typhoon Bill). You may still be able to find it - it was a Wordpress blog called The Ghost and Mrs Scott". It's a private site called "Scott's Abode", so you will have to log in to Wordpress and then request access. I'm afraid I do not know the chap's name.
According to the blog, Typhoon Bill (I'll call him that to avoid confusing with William Marchant Smith junior, his son)
QUOTE
In the summer of 1882 at the age of 32 he married 24 year old Ruth Metcalfe at St Philips Church in Litherland, just north of Liverpool. Ruth was the daughter of George, a Master Mariner, so William probably met her through this seafaring connection. They set up home in Liverpool and had three children: William Marchant Smith born in 1884, Arthur Mayer Smith (1886) and Robert Alexander Smith (1887). Some time between 1887 and 1891 the family moved into this house and employed two servants: Mary Salt and Anne Nelson.

I presume your Grandfather Henry was a later addition - do you have his birth date or birth certificate, by any chance? If so I can add him to the tree.
.
My Grandfather Arthur Mayer Smith was also son of William Marchant Smith (Typhoon Bill). My father's name was Basil Marchant Smith (who later adopted the Muslim name Badr El-Murad).
