Isaac Brewer, who married the oldest daughter of W. B. Meade Sr., was of English stock. Among the soldiers who came with Braddock to America, in 1755, were two brothers by the name of Brewer: one of them was was killed at Fort Duquesne, on July 9th, 1755, and the other survived the war and settled in Southwestern Virginia, where he had several sons and daughters. One of these sons, after serving in the Revolution, married Sallie Roark, who afterwards became the wife of Emile Millard. To this former marriage of Sallie Roark was born Isaac Brewer, who came with Millard to the Tug Valley, and after his marriage was born eight sons and three daughters. …

Isaac Brewer, Sr. Embly "Millie" Millard

The other Sallie Roark was the daughter of Timothy Roark, of Grayson County and married JOHN Deskins (not Daniel).

However, note in profile is

Never married Lewis Brewer, he married wife Agatha Holland just before Isaac was born. Sallie Roark was daughter of his good friend Tiimothy Roark, who was witness on Lewis Brewer's will. Sallie married Deskins abt 1793 or so, then Millard 7 Oct 1800.

Notes for Sallie Roark:

O'Roark/Roark family history shows she was born in 1761 in Logan County, which was in Virginia before the Civil War but became part of the West Virginia partitioning during the Civil War in 1863.

"On 14 August 1826, either her father (if he was then still alive) or a brother,Timothy Roark and Sarah Roark sold 70 acres of land on the upper North Fork of the Clinch River, adjacent to Benjamin Olney and John Deskins, which had been patented in 1790 to Henry Creswell. At that time they were living in Claiborne Co, Tenn."

"Sallie (Sarah) Roark sister of a James Roark, married a Deskins...somewhere on the Virginia frontier, who later died a tragic death. Sallie Roark Deskins married for a 2nd time, to Isaac Brewer,Sr. " "One son named Isaac Brewer II was born before Isaac Brewer Sr.died, before 1800, in present day Tazewell, VA."

Daughter Sarah, as an executrix sold her father, Timothy's share as he had died sometime after June 15, 1811 as his will is dated on June 15.
"On 14 August 1826, Timothy Roark and Sarah Roark sold 70 acres of land on the upper North Fork of the Clinch River, adj to Benjamin Olney and John Deskins, which had been patented in 1790 to Henry Creswell. At that time they were living in Claiborne Co, Tenn."

His will, spelled Rowark, is in the Grayson County Will Book 1 Pg 75 dated June 13, 1811, codical dated June 15, 1811 recorded July 1811. Heirs: wife Rachel(no maiden name), sons Timothy, Moses, Charles, and William (he not being competent): daughters Mary Rainey, Sarah Miller and Rebekah ,spelled Rowark.

Note: Sarah Miller is also known as Sarah/Sallie Millard whom she had married in 1800, 11 years before the date of this will. Her husband, a Frenchman, Emile Millard is also called 'Miller" in all history and genealogy reports. Sarah/Sallie's deceased husband was Isaac Brewer.

Re: Kentucky Deskins

Not sure if you are still researching this connection but the references i have seen relating to a John Deskins and a Roark wife are as follows:

New River Notes: Biographies of the men in William Herbert's Company in Lord Dunmore's War (1774) - lists aTimothy Roark Jr as marrying Unknown with child Sarah ( m John Deskins ) and Timothy married Rachel .

Ragland's "History of Logan County , Wv"- Sallie Roark moved into Logan county after her marriage to Emile Millard ( her 3rd husband )and brought with her both Issac Brewer's son ( her 1st husband ) and John Deskins son .

Note: There is a reference to John Deskins , son of John Deskins ( husband # 2 ) not being the child of Sarah & John Deskins but the child of Sarah (Sallie) Roark's sister Rebecca but i have seen no evidence to support this .

In my opinionthe John Deskins (Diskin) & Sarah Roark marriage of eastern Va is not the same Deskins - Roark referred to in the above references .

It is known that a John Deskins settled in the Washington - Tazewell area as early as 1773 . This may be the Deskins referred to in the Dunmore account as Roark had land adjoining that of John Deskins in that time frame so they were neighboors .

There are frequent references to both a Daniel and a John Deskins/Diskin in Russell County land acquisitions and tax lists of the late 1780's and early 1790's . Whether they were brothers , father & son or whatever is not known nor is their connection to the Diskin/Deskin lines of eastern Va.

Do you have information that confirms the marriage of a Sarah Roark to John Deskins?I descend from from John Deskins whose mother was Sarah "Sally" Roark.Appreciate any info you may have.

I have seen the following several times and wondering about ages:
Daniel Deskins (b ca1726 Stafford Co, Va) md Sarah Roark (b ca 1728, Stafford Co, Va).Their children are shown as being born between 1785-1800.Sarah Roark would have been between 57 and 72 years old at the birth of these children.Isn't a generation or two missing?

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Deskins-76

John J. was born about 1793. John J. Deskins ... He passed away about 1858.

Sarah Roark raised two children, John Deskins and Isaac Brewer, before marrying Emile Millard aka Miller 07 Oct 1800 Tazewell Co., Virginia. No records are found of a Brewer or Deskins marriage. In her book “Southwestern Virginia Kin”, Ethel Albert says a Daniel Deskins was John’s father. Teresa Martin Klaiber (and possibly in later years Ethel Albert) believed one of the 3 brothers - John. Stephen, or Smith Deskins was the father of John. It seems likely that John was born out of wedlock. Sarah Roark would have been either the mother or a foster parent.

Daniel Daniel Deskins who married Margaret "Peggy" Deskins has unknown parents, according to:

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Deskins-65

Important Notes: This Daniel Deskins' parents are unknown. A 1991 LDS IGI file calls this person Richard Daniel Deskins. No proof or source given for name “Richard”. None found by current researchers, including the submitter to LDS. He used “Richard” as a placeholder to separate him from others named Daniel Deskins. Parents often given for this Daniel Deskins as Daniel (or John) Deskins and Sarah Roark have been proven as incorrect. Sarah Roark raised only one Deskins child - the John Deskins who married Rebecca Holt.

—-

So that would be John Deskins who married Rebecca Deskins as son of Sarah Roark by Mr. Deskins.

The Deskins researchers have come up with 4 possible names for Sarah’s 1st husband - Daniel, or one of the brothers John. Stephen, or Smith Deskins,

So the story is that Isaac Brewer, Sr. (did not) marry an Irish (not a widow) woman, whose 1st (not a) husband John, or maybe Daniel, died “tragically”. They had one son, or maybe Foster son, only. Researchers also suggested he could have been one of the sons of John J Deskins - who I see were in fact living and married elsewhere. So I think there is not a quick fix to this mystery, presumably Y DNA studies can sort eventually.
