There's something strange going on here, maybe someone can help?
1.
I know (for certain) that wife of Thomas Henry Beckley - Classina Sophia Beckley's - birthdate was 13/4/1905 and death date was 10/5/((1989)). She had been living in our home in Sharonlea, Randburg, before her death from pneumonia and organ failure at 84.
2.
His wife's name is definitely spelled Classina (with a double "s") Sophia and birth surname definitely Botes. My mom is in possession of her (as yet unlocated) ID book.
3. She was married to Thomas Henry Beckley who was much older than her, and died in 1961. My mother Private remembers him sitting on their stoep in his old age rubbing & bandaging his bad knee (as per his profile photo I uploaded).
I had earlier discovered Thomas Henry Beckley had been married before, to a Francis Martha Beckley (Daniels) in 1913, who died 5 years later. (source image of marriage record on profile). She sadly passed away 5 years later in 1919 and in 1924 he is listed on his marriage record to Classina Sophia Beckley as a widower.
4.
He claimed his knee injury was from "the war". According to the family, Thomas Henry Beckley was British, born in the UK. This led me down a British Military pathway to a Lieutenant/Captain of this name, born in ((February)) ((1886)). (I have commented on his profile with those links). This Thomas Henry Beckley was part of the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) 1914. In trying to match these two people up given what my family has told me about him, the dates started revealing an inconsistency.
6.
Both marriage records cite birth year for Thomas Henry Beckley circa ((1887)) (he was 25 in 1913 marriage and ((37)) in 1924 marriage) and Thomas Henry Beckley's occupation as Guard SAR.
6.2.
His father is listed here as George Thomas Beckley husband of Wilhelmina Magdalena Beckley who were married (cited on marriage record (2/23/1886) in Boshof, Free State, South Africa. I found baptism records for each of their children listed Lilian Lucy Beckley, Ellen Georgina Beckley, Arthur Vincent Beckley, John Augustus Beckley but none for Thomas Henry Beckley supposedly also their son. (That I can find, anyway)
6.3
If Thomas Henry Beckley was born in 1887 in the UK, it would have meant a year after their marriage, George Thomas Beckley and Wilhelmina Magdalena Beckley went to the UK and in that time produced a son, then went back to South Africa where they had their other children (all cited)
7. My sister Private User remembers that Classina Sophia Beckley had a grave without a headstone, and went to some effort many years ago to try and rectify this. I don't think this is relevant but it may be, given the inconsistencies - I'm not sure if the error has come in because of a conflict of Classina or of Thomas Henry and his father.
8. Daan Botes who is out of range at the moment (11/1/22) messaged to say that this portion of his Botes register shows the following information, which I think shows that there is a mix up - death date of Clas(s)ina is in 1889 instead of 1989 and their marriage record states his birth as being in 1867. If this year is accurate it would mean that he was in fact 57 years old when he married Classina (19) - I don't think this is the case - and the marriage records show his age as being 37 (est. birth year 1887) - could this has been indexed incorrectly?
