I've tried to find more information on the parents connected to this Robert Hanby and haven't had much luck.

This book mentions he had brothers named Thomas and Edward but doesn't mention their parents;

https://books.google.com/books?id=ADASAgAAQBAJ&pg=PA39&lpg=...

This site shows a genealogy that has his father as Walter.

Given this, I'm not confident about the parents connected to Robert. Is there anything to validate the connections?

Thanks in advance for any documentation / clarification.

"Days of Yore" was found to be an *inaccurate* source, and off in many cases by up to a generation, by Ann K. Blomquist in her own researches into Hamby ancestry.

Ms. Blomquist used to have a well-developed set of pages on Rootsweb, but when Ancestry.com took over Rootsweb and shoved it under the rug, much of the information was shredded.

This is her page on Robert Hamby (which luckily cn still be found): https://wc.rootsweb.com/trees/104119/I40065/robert-hamby/individual

And here is Walter, with a notation per Visitations of London (1568) that there were two more sons, Thomas and Edward: https://wc.rootsweb.com/trees/104119/I40433/walter-hamby/individual

Make that off by up to a CENTURY.

You're awesome, Maven! Thanks for those links! I only just discovered they're my ancestors and trying to add them correctly to my tree. I appreciate your taking time to share all that.

Hey, that means we're cousins, because they're my ancestors too. (Ninth cousin five times removed, or so Geni says.)

Might've known the common ancestor was Wandering William Hanby! That guy had a bad case of itching foot, and most if not all of his descendants inherited it.

To be strictly accurate, the *cousinship* is through Wandering William - the mutual ancestor is his father Richard.

That's just awesome! I just looked it up and posted in your Guest Book! Nice to know we're cousins!

And thanks for those additional bits of family history about Wandering William. I love stories...makes the people come alive, not just dates and geaography.

Robert Hamby is my 18th cousin five times removed.
