The Abraham Moses that was married to Mary Elizabeth O'Neil died in 1899. This obituary (http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article14219946) makes reference to O'Neil in-laws, and also a Rebecca as a sibling to Abraham... the Rebecca (Steenbhom) sibling to our Abraham had died in 1898.

Our Abraham did move to Tenterfield, and changed his name to John Moss. He married Mary Carter, and did die on the date you have in this profile.

DNA evidence has conclusively linked my mother (John/Abraham's granddaughter) to other descendants of Jacob Moses and Sarah Symons, and also to Solomon's through Sarah's ancestors. Here is a link to my Ancestry profile for John/Abraham. https://www.ancestry.com.au/family-tree/person/tree/176072869/perso...

Looking at the NSW death records - the only death record for a John MOSS for 1928 Tenterfield has that his father is John and he was 63.

John Moss is buried with his wife in Glenn Innes Cemetery

They have his parents as Jacob MOSES Zane Sarah SYMONS

Hi Leanne.

Yes the father is down as John on his 1928 death certificate (#20219/1928). That certificate has a death date of 22 Dec 1928, and names his wife and children (see below). BTW there is also another John Moss that died that year (20 Aug 1928 in Auburn, #11348/1928) that lists Jacob and Sarah Moses as his parents.... that is his brother Isaac!

John and Mary Carter's marriage certificate also has it as John and Sarah Miller. Circumstances in Abraham/John's life must have led him to distance himself from his parents, and name them incorrectly. It certainly meant that we stalled on that family line for over 15 years (until mum got her DNA done).

My mother has several DNA matches in each line to the descendants of David Moss (Joseph and Sarah's 4th Child), Rachel Symons (Sarah's sister), and Myer Solomon (Sarah's grandfather).

All that needs to be done to correct this profile is remove the marriage to Mary Elizabeth Moses, and unlink those children.
Mary Carter (b. 04 Jul 1871, d. 14 Aug 1946, m. 04 Sep 1890) had 6 children, John, Ernest William, Henrietta May, Jessie, Grace, and Ruth.

Incidentally, some of those DNA matches are to Dorothy Johnson (one of the names listed as profile manager), her daughter Alana, and her sister Gwendoline.

> Could the son who changed his name to John MOSS be one of the other brothers or a cousin?

- Joseph MOSES 1866–1867 (i have these two certificates)
- David MOSS 1868–1950 (DNA matches to Dorothy, Gwendoline, Alana, 2 Hockley's and a Hampton)

Are you able to load the certificates to the profiles?

All the vital information for those people can be seen on my Ancestry tree. Here's the profile for Jacob Moses
https://www.ancestry.com.au/family-tree/person/tree/176072869/perso...

I really appreciate you taking the time to talk with me. I've verified all my research with Alana Johnson, John Shrimski and Adrian Paul. I've provided to you the most important piece of evidence (the 1899 funeral notices of the Abraham that was married to Mary O'Neill - the last notice being from his O'Neill in-laws). All I want to do is help others researching my Moses/Symons family, but also the Moses/O'Neill family.

Unfortunately I don't have access to ancestry.

Lots of name changes makes research rather interesting doesn't it
