The Finch born 1800/2 died in Rockcastle, KY. His son Finch, the one pictured, was born 1861 KY and died Quay County, New Mexico.

PTID:6000000188814283824:6000000187259281853 allegedly died in 1859

Finch Shiplet, Jr was born in 1861

These dates don't work with basic math, so either one of the dates or both is wrong, or they are not parent/child.

I think the claim is that William (son of Finch and Ann Taylor) is the father of Finch Jr.

In both the 1860 and 1870 US census PTID:6000000188864230829:6000000187259589823 is listed with a child named Finch, born c1859/1860.

Lucretia is a widow at this time.

If PTID:6000000188864230831:6000000187259281853 did die 1 September 1859 then he is quite probably the father of Finch Shiplet, Jr

The note in FAG "Louetta (Hardaway) Shiplet: she speculates this is Finch Shiplet,II to be a son of William M. and Lucretia (Reynolds) Shiplet" seems unlikely given that Lucretia was William's stepmother.
