Is there any family ‘stories’ about what may have happened to Edward? I am a descendent through his marriage to Naomi and have been unable to find any information on his death. Did he vanish at sea? Did he wrong Naomi in some way. any snippet of of information would be appreciated.
Kate Grieve née Dobson.

Naomi had a daughter to Charles EASTAUGHFE in 1843 so Edward was either deceased by then or the marriage had broken down

Thanks Leanne.
I have a Louisa Emily 1848 - 1910 (m Joseph Marshall 1869) listed in children of Naomi & Edward Dobson in the book Thomas West of Barcom Glen by Edward West Marriott.
Do you have confirmation of your Louisa’s birth in 1843?
There is a Louisa (1843-1931) daughter of Obed West & Margaret Lindsay listed in the same book. This Louisa married Edward Alcorn (no date)

I have been looking from 1848 (after my Louisa’s birth), so maybe I could be looking after the birth of Margaret West Dobson (1836-1837). The mystery deepens.
