Reviewing Daniel McQueen, Sr. and others.

Sources needed for Daniel McQueen Sr. Found a will in the SC Archives and attached. Trying to determine if his son is Daniel McQueen, Jr.

Only mention of sons William, Samuel, James and John along with daughter, Mary Sawyer. Wife may have been deceased as no mention of her.

The Daniel McQueen Jr. may be a grandson or nephew. More research is needed.

It was not uncommon in Horry County (and in other areas at the time) if there were and elder and younger of the same name and the younger was related somehow to refer to them as Sr. and Jr. It leads to great confusion and I have had to spend many hours untangling all the Frederick, Francis, James and Samuel Floyds for this reason.

I am going to post more McQueen

Tagging Private User and Stephen Daniel Harper so they can follow and note if they have any info.

Found this on a "Daniel McQueen, Minor. 1801"

Question - Were there brothers William and Daniel McQueen who had sons named for each other? It would not be the first time. I think this is something that will need to be marked down in generations and maybe census data cal give some idea.

We know for sure that Daniel had sons William, Samuel, James, and John. William may have been the oldest as he already was out on his own in 1807 when Daniel's will was written. But if the William Jr. (and minor Daniel) purchased land in 1808, there must have been an older William - question is Father or Uncle?

I am trying to sort the mix up on Family Search. Wife of Daniel McQueen may be Susanna Garrell (Gerrald). However, that is sketchy, but believable, given the location of families.

It also, like everywhere else has duplicates and some that may or may not be correct. However, the dates of most of the listed profiles of the will seem correct.

It appears that son William was the only one who stayed in Horry. Mary Sawyer appears to have ended up in Louisiana, The other boys in Alabama.

Typical after the War of 1812.

Found a Will on son William McQueen and his wife also named Susanna.
