Good Evening Mr. van Niekerk,

Thank you for your enquiry regarding your Grandfather Mr Lajos Fabian. I am delighted to inform you that he

is frequently mentioned my book and there are numerous group photographs for you to identify him from. I have on

record that he was 23years of age, single, when he arrived on 16th December 1956 at Johannesburg Airport on

Flight MIFLY 16/1 from Linz Hoersching, Austria.

He was employed by the South African Railways Durban and did his training on Salisbury Island. He was a very supportive

member of the Hungarian Club and is mentioned in the minutes. He too would have been in Durban when Cardinal Mindzenty

visited the country. Whilst employed by the Railway he was resident in the S.A. Mutual Building 400 Gardner Street, Durban.

I sincerely hope this period in history finds favour with you and your family. The book covers many interesting facts of the Hungarian

connections to South Africa and the Boer Republic.

Your feedback and review will be deeply appreciated. If there are any families you are aware of wanting to trace details of their

Hungarian ancestors please give them my contact details.

Warmest regards

Lindsay Tonkin
