Profiles Mentioned:

My name is Larry Laird, a descendent of William Laird (1792/Abbeville, SC), son of (most likely) Samuel Laird who came over in the "Good Ship Hillsbourgh" in 1767, along with his brother John, and sister Mary (Bonner), father Samuel Senior, and mother, Margaret Gibson. My branch of the Lairds have lived and died in Walton County, Florida since before the Civil War. I have been unable to firmly establish the William Laird link to his likely father yet, so any help there would be awesome. I can be reached at titan3676@gmail.com. I have a tree on Ancestry.com, labeled "Laird, Elam, Cribbs, and Slay.

Essentially, I know this: My Laird landed in SC in 1767. He may have had brothers/cousins that traveled to PA as well, around the same time period. Samuel Laird had a 300 acre royal land grant near Abbeville, SC. I have walked that ground, it is amazing. My Laird eventually moved to Alabama, then to Walton County, Florida, where 8 generations are now buried.

I am now a fully retired former USAF member, and willing to communicate with anyone who could help me advance our knowledge of this line. I am also willing to help anyone, meet anyone, who is interested in getting together and touring that original land grant and the original churches...I know them well, now.

Thanks.
