I have been working on my family tree for about a year now. I would like to thank the many who have helped me with my mother's mother line I O'Brien born Ida Quintin , My mothers heritage is all French from Acadia and Quebec , I was amazed to find out that this great French Canadian is a distant cousin of mine , being my 6th cousin twice removed , seems we share a common great grandfather named Louis Petit dit Lapare born in 1689. I have always been interested in Strength and weightlifting , One of the first books I read when this interest began to occupy my every thought as a young teenager was a book written by Ben Weider called Louis Cyr The Strongest Man In History , I read that book in 1979 when I was in grade eight , actually it was the first book I ever bought and read end to end with avid interest . The story of his life , of how he worked in the Lumber camps, how he was stronger than anyone else , how he began to compete in strongman competitions on Canada and the United States , how he eventually became the strongest man of his era , never beaten . Touring as a Circus Strongman making large sums for the day , His later life as an Police Officer in Montreal Canada , The story of his life ending sadly with his untimely death at age 49 in 1913 Now years later I find that this man is a distant relative of mine unreal .
