Aug 6, 2016 at 1:55 AM

This profile was originally created in March 2015 by yet another currently inactive user.

I don't think anyone knows the name of his wife, although his seven children have been identified.

1. Thomas Armstrong (7th Lord)

2. John Armstrong of Gilnockie

3. Christopher Armstrong of Langholm

4. George Armstrong

5. Alexander or Andro Armstrong

6. Robert Armstrong

7. William Armstrong

Also, "Maria Sumac" had 3 children between the ages of 9 and 15 years old. [Too young, and fixing the data conflict doesn't solve that problem, would only make it worse.]

Also, I can find nothing on the surname Sumac or Sumach, or anyone known by that name, anywhere.

According to Ancestry, "Born in Newcastleton, Roxburghshire, Scotland, United Kingdom on Abt. 1460. Maria Sumac married Alexander Maule Liard van Panmure and had 2 children. She passed away in Scotland, United Kingdom."

However, whoever did this on Ancestry seems to have confused Alexander Maule Liard van Panmure with Alexander Armstrong, because it shows two of the Armstrong sons as her children.

Sir Alexander de Armstrong, 6th Laird of Mangerton

In Douglas's Scottish Peerage I'm having a hard time finding any Alexander Maule.

In Crawford's Scottish Peerage I find Alexander Maule but no one by the name of Sumac/Sumach.

I find "Maria Sumac" scattered all over the public genealogy sites, with none providing any proof of her existence in reality.
