One user wants a photo of the original Hønneruplund (which Schaldemose owned) and another user wants a cropped photo of the birth certificate. Since no one can agree, we are going to have to intervene to make a decision. Make your case here. Private User Private User

Hi Mike,
As you can see in About Me on Niels Schaldemose's profile, I changed the profile photo in agreement with the administrators I could approach.
Niels Schaldemose NEVER owned Hønneruplund, so why should this photo "overrule" his birth certificate photo?
He was born there while his father Christian Schaldemose owned the estate.
So the photo from Arkiv.dk would be O.K. on his father's profile, if copyrights are stated, but on both profiles you can still find the photo of Hønneruplund under Media.
With regards,
Kirsten

Interesting... I had found this book: https://www.google.com/books/edition/Personalhistoriske_statistiske... which seems to say that Niels Schaldemose was the owner of Hønneruplund. Obviously I'm way out of my depth here and I'm not sure it's really relevant... if it was his family home then I think the issue remains the same.

Others have argued that the cropped documents from arkiv.dk are a violation of their licensing terms, do you know anything about that?

Hi Mike,

No wonder that you're out of your depth when you must decipher a text in Gothic types with a lot of abbreviations.

Actually, the the samme text was to be seen in the About Me field - in a more readable version, still with shortenings though.

I have now marked the bit that shows who was the owner of Hønneruplund with bold types there.

And here is what it says:

F.(ather) Christian S.(chaldemose), Skipscapt.(ain), Eier af Hønneruplund; M.(other) Martha Charlotte Krag af Gjelsted-R.(ørup).

You can also see that they had 4 S.(ons) and 3 D.(aughters).

As to photos from www.arkiv.dk, I don't know the rules in details but I know that you are not allowed to use them in a cropped version.

The watermark must always be visible and the copyrights must be written on the photo.

So that's another reason to choose a cropped birth registration as the profile photo - there are no restrictions on them.

With regards,
Kirsten
