Apparently, I have no links to either the Maryland Friends or the Massachusetts Friends. (Whatever that's supposed to mean). I tried searching records for a birth in North Carolina, to no avail. I even tried an overseas search, since the Find-A-Grave information suggested he was born in Ireland. Only one of his children who lived long enough to participate in the later census records, that record where the person's parents were born, has him listed as being born in Ireland. That well comes up dry, too. I can find no record for a Joseph Friend born in Ireland. Oh, I found one born in England, but no record of his passage to the colonies. It is clear, Joseph Friend was here. He owned land in Illinois. There are records.
I am about to stick a Dead-End picture on this profile. The wind has been viciously kicked out of my sails and I no longer have any leads. And here I thought when I found a Geni profile online, apart from the official site and it ran my relationship to one Israel Frande Friend and it gave a pathway showing I was a 16th cousin, 11 times removed that I had my first real clue. Sadly, none of his brothers seems to be this Joseph's father, either. It is with a heavy heart that I call it quits.
Unless someone else has a solid enough lead for me to try.
