I'm in agreement with you based on my research, except you're confusing Capt Jame Butler's wife, elizabeth Foote with this James Butler's wife: Elizabeth Newport. James is identified clearly in Peter Newport II's will, Granville Co, NC, Vol.I, 1782, pg 371. Please be sure NOT to confuse these two very different families.

The FindaGrave Memorial (ID 100715949) for the Captain James Butler who was born in 1738 and died in 1781 in the Cloud Creek massacre mentions his wife Elizabeth Mary Smith and lists 6 childrens' FindaGraves. No parents are noted: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/100715949/but
The FindaGrave Memorial (ID 150069245) for my 6th great grandfather James Butler who was born and died 1738-1819 DOES list them as HIS parents. His wife was Frances Elizabeth Foote (1742-1802) and four childrens FinadaGraves are posted. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/150069245/james-butler Will someone please update this profile to reflect the FindaGrave? Thank you in advance.

Evidence needed to support James Butler, VA -> Hart, KY as husband of Elizabeth Foote Not the husband of Frances Savage

Thank you for bringing to attention, Denise Vibbert
Thank you for working on them, Erica Howton

Who is Elizabeth Newport?
Are these parents correct for James?
His FaG shows wife https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/150069700/mary-elizabeth-butler and his Wikitree shows wife same https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Foote-815 as our Elizabeth Foote who is disconnected as a Butler wife at all.

Denise Vibbert has no tree attached at Geni so I have no idea her relationship.
Anything helpful to discern WHO these people are is so welcome!
According to what I thought I knew, James is my 6th great grandfather and he had a brother named Seamon and and I am descended from James Butler, VA -> Hart, KY via his son Seamon Seamon Butler, I
There is Native American in this line.
But I do not "do" Native American genealogy and am open to suggestions as to where to look.

Seamon Butler, I married Sarah Butler Sarah Collier.
Their son Cyrus Cyrus Collier Butler is my 4th great grandfather.
He married a Native American woman others have called Nancy CROWSHOES.
My THIRD great grandmother, daughter of Cyrus and Nancy is Mary Ann Crawshaw Mary Ann Butler who married Titus Crawshaw. Titus came from England. Many of his children with Mary Ann married Davis. These cousins show Native American ancestry for the most part.
I have come to this line from the bottom up and will revisit and add more information to them.
It does seem fruitful to do so...

Anyway--- the profile at Wikitree seems very fleshed out! Does this James need disconnected from Foote?
And the FaG in error for certain details such as wife?
Again, I think Seamon is a brother and son.

Thank you for your work at FS on them, Denise:
