I received this message from Donald Eugene Langford so please direct inquires/comments to him.

I am a 4th generation Langford after Rufus Wiley Langford and my DNA does not link to the Rev John Langford! Rufus was raised in SC and move to TN - his first child was born in TX (very iffy proof) then John ‘Thomas’ Langford (my great grandfather) was born in Overton county TN - he had children there, then moved to KY, then moved to Montague County TX. Most likely and records of Rufus were burned in the fire in Overton?
But the link between Rev John & Rufus is your guess. [NO DNA PROOF]

I think the best way to possibly find the real parents of Rufus Wiley Langford is to remove John & Martha as parents. I have Rufus on Wikitree.com without parents. On MyHeritage neither Andy Langford or my tree had a parent link but someone made the link and I cannot remove it so I stopped paying as of April 24th.

Detached Rufus Wiley Langford, Sr. as son of Rev. John Langford, Sr. & Martha "Patsy" Langford

If evidence is found for parentage, they can be reattached.

There are three trees of Langford closely associated from the SC & NC & TN the Rev John Langford of Warren County NC then Rufus Wiley Langford of SC & TN then Eli Langford . Of the three Eli has the most history. It seems from census records that their wife’s and some daughters did not learn to Read & Write plus the males did not keep Journals.
