Charles Cummins - Age discrepancy

How can my fourth great grandfather have been born to an 8 year old father? Researchers have grafted Robert onto this branch of my family and not checked their math or dob's. Robert was born in 1772. Charles was born in 1780. Did I miss something? How did this get overlooked? Charles' dob was calculated from his gravestone. Data here:

DNA has proved that Robert Cummins is NOT the father of Charles Cummins (1780-1852) or the father of James F. Cummins (1790-1870) as some researchers claim and has been wrongfully added to the Family Members list below.

I will detach Charles as Robert's son.
