«b»Austin, Samuel«/b», was born in Poundridge, Westcheste r county, N.Y., September 9, 1836, son of Henry and Matild a (Avery) Austin, and is of English descent. He was reare d in his native county, educated in the common schools, an d served an apprenticeship at the wheelwright and machinis t trade in Norwalk, Conn. In 1855 he came to Western, wher e he worked at his trade up to 1864, when he purchased th e farm where he now resides, and has since been engaged i n farming. In 1858, he married Sarah, daughter of Wolcott a nd Anna (Teller) Dillenbeck, of Western, by whom he had fiv e children, one of whom survives: Anna A. Mr. Austin is a m ember of the F. & A.M., and has been commissioner of highwa ys of Western for two years. In politics he is a Democrat.
