I am looking at photos of a relative, and by now I am at photo # 114 of 70. How can this be?
Also on my own profile, when I click the Media tab, I see 15 of 25 photos, while in my
album there are 145 photos.
Can any of our dear curators explain the workings of the Photo/Media department?

Not a Curator, but I think I can explain.

On the media tab, only the media tagged with your name would show in here. This is not a listing of photos in your albums. These photos could come from anyone's album.

As far as the #114 of 70, this might be a case of the photo being automatically assigned a Title by Geni when they added the Title field to photos. If there was over 114 images in the album at that time it could explain why it's #114 and now there are less images in the album. Just a theory.

Jonathan, I accept knowledge from whoever wants to share it.
By now I am at photo 145 of 70 and going.
The reason I want to understand, and I am sure many more other Geni users as well, is to upload the photos in a smart way, so guesses or theories are not sufficient.
Nevertheless I thank you.

Daniel, let me ask you this? Where are you seeing the photo 145 of 70? On what page? Where on the page? How did you get to the listing of photos?

Again, the title field is completely within the photo owners control. If this is the title field the numbers mean nothing as they can be changed.

Hi Jonathan, my computer knowledge is quite limited, so the terms I may use to explain myself will reflect that.
On top of the page, under the Geni logo, there is a wide blue line with different tags, one of them saying photos. When I click on photos it brings me to where all the albums of family and friends are located. I clicked on the album of a relative whose pictures I never saw and got to the end at about 160 of 70.
I hope this answers your question.
And please, if you can answer in the manner Geni for Dummies, would be appreciated.
Thanks, Dani

I think I have deciphered the Media tab part of my question, and you may be partially or fully right about it.
About the second part of the question I am not convinced that you are correct.
One thing though bothers me: the lack of involvement of the CURATORS in this discussion. It seems to me that discussions and responses are prioritized towards the BIG PICTURE, whatever that may be, while ignoring the mundane problems.
Just a reminder, even the marathon is started by a single step.

@Daniel Bugs in the Geni program is not the responsibility of a Curator

There are two people from Geni who looks after these complaints. I will forward this to one of them

Hi Daniel. First off let me repeat what Angus said, although the Curators are often very helpful in assisting other users with common issues, they can't do anything with bug reports except help to verify them and narrow them down. Seems like Jonathan, who is not a Curator, has done a fine job in helping you clarify the issue in this thread.

As to your issue - I have verified it and asked an engineer to look into it. Looks like, for some reason, we think that there are only 70 photos in that album when there are actually more. I'll let you know what I find out.

@Noah Tutak @Angus Wood-Salomon, I understand what you said about the curators and the bugs.
I don't expect them to fix what they can't, but I do expect them to do two things:
notify the people who can fix the problem, and notify the person who started the discussion what they did and what they didn't.
Takes only a few seconds and case closed.
Thank to you all.

@Daniel Curators are just usrs of Geni just like you and me they volunteered to help straighten out the mess in parts of the Trees.
Here is an explanation of their role
http://www.geni.com/discussions/6000000009728208335

Noah and Mike are employees of Geni and they monitor these discussions for Bugs and so on.

So continue doing what you did in reporting any problems or any bugs in these Public Discussions and someone will jump in and try to assist.
