Walter Jacob Ernst was born on July 8, 1888 in Cleveland, Ohio. But soon after he was born his family moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. There he got his first job as a carpenter which later on became his profession. He did not make it very far in school he barely made it through grade school but he could read and write. Later on he married Sue Louise Morgan in1917 and had two children with her: Dorothy Anna Jane Ernst Filbert and Walter J. Ernst. One of his greater accomplishments was one of his jobs as a carpenter when he helped build the Cincinnati stone bridge. Walter died on October 29, 1966.
