She was born in Buenos Aires on 6 April 1774. In 1805 she married Nicolás Rodríguez Peña, who would be one of the protagonists of independence. She led a group of women who went to Coronel Cornelio Saavedra to try to persuade him to support the independence cause. She was described in the .Gaceta. as "con el haber de 2 hombres". A contemporary of Mariquita Sánchez, she married Nicolás Rodríguez Peña, (1775-1853) and hosted pro-Independence meetings in their Buenos Aires house. “Casilda, mujer de agallas que ‘arrastraba por su resolución e imponía hasta con su voz’, llevó la delantera en la reunión del 18 de mayo en que un grupo de damas instó a [Cornelio de] Saavedra a pronunciarse. Mariquita Sánchez and Martín Thompson supported this move to establish Saavedra as head of the Port Cabildo. She later became Vice-President of the Sociedad de Beneficencia under Mariquita Sánchez (Sáenz Quesada, 50,127,200).

She was the daughter of Domingo de Igarzábal, who was a member of the 1812 alcalde and Josefa Echeverría. She married Nicolás Rodríguez Peña who was at the heart of the independence cause in 1810. She accompanied him in his work and shared the enthusiasm for his ideals. She joined the Sociedad de Beneficiencia and was later its president. She died on 31 July 1844. (Carranza, 28-29)
