First marriage

His first marriage was to Mary Ramsay. My Mother in Law is from the Ramsay family and feel this must be the same James Gibson Bain. Mary Ramsay and James were married about 1902-1903 probably Haldimand County, Ontario, where Mary and James grew up. They had a son, James Gibson Bain 17 Apr 1904. Mary died in August of 1904 and her sister, Annie, took in the child. They went to Rochester, New York, and lived with another sister, Esther, and her husband Daniel Allan and their three children. Annie and the baby are listed in the 1905 New York Census in the household, Annie Ramsay and Allan J. G. Bain. Annie died in 1906 and the baby remained in the Allan family into his late 20s until he married. He was known as Allan J. Bain since 1910.
