Do we add them here? I'm asking because all of their military records, including pensions, are filed under the Spanish-American War. (Good explanation [http://www.spanamwar.com/genealogy6.html here.]

Other than for MOH honorees, there doesn't seem to be a project specifically for Philippine-American War soldiers. I'm interested in finding a project for my 3gr-uncle, killed in action in the Battle of Manila: Corporal John Grainger Young

Thanks for any help you can give!

If there isn't an existing project, you can create it. Anyone can.

Sorry, Jennifer, I am been remiss in checking discussions for a while. In answer to your question, perhaps it helps to provide a little info. The Spanish American war officially ended in 1898, at which point the Spaniards turned the Philippines over to the U.S. Government. This was not what the Filipinos were expecting. They expected their independence. And when U.S. soldiers started arriving there, it became a long drawn out battle that was later referred to as the "First Vietnam." Officially, this war last from 1898 to 1901 but in truth, fighting continued, especially in Mindanao, through to 1913. If your records reflect activity during this time period, feel free to include those here in the Philippine-American War Soldiers.

BY THE WAY, do you know what regiment and company he was in? I found this great site: http://1-22infantry.org/history/historytitle.htm It is the history of U.S. Infantry, Regiment 22, the oldest, continueing regiment in U.S. military. This site was created by and is contributed to by it's members. It's filled with detailed daily reports by officers, photos, etc. Wonderful!
