Contradictory information from Googins of America vs Old Kittery and her families by Stackpole, Everett Schermerhorn, 1850-1927

https://archive.org/details/oldkitteryherfam00staciala/page/702/mod... Is probably the more reliable source, but Patrick Goggins died in 1784: so how did she marry Benjamin Parker 2nd ?

Help.

Here’s the (separated) Mary Parker

And the source https://books.google.com/books?id=FzdPAAAAMAAJ&vq=Rogers&pg=PA11#v=... that shows the Goggins wife having children at the same time as the Parker wife.

Patrick Googins

I don't know for sure. That Benjamin was a cousin to my line of Parkets. I kniw a Mary Rigets married a Thomas Parker but that was about three generations earlier and she was from Cambridge , Mass. They could be connected. Let me look around.

I don't know for sure. That Benjamin was parker was a cousin of my line. I never really followed that line that deeply. I will see if I have anything in my paperwork.

I know she did marry my Benjamin Osrker. Suppose to have married another one. A cousin. I have to look it up.

Im late to this party.

I was just focused on Roger and Patrick I hadn't really looked that closely into Mary yet.

Erica I don't have your lighting fast genealogical reflexes. Im more of a genealogical groundhog.
I can go fast for short distances but mostly I waddle around.

I think I found something an interesting genealogical artifact (and caught Stackpole in an error).

The auction of this silver platter for $149,000 showed its provenance.

https://www.christies.com/en/lot/lot-5970119

Through a chain of 2nd marriages, Mary (GOOKIN) Parker inherited the platter from her cousin, Mary (GOOKIN) Gedney Cotton Newmarch.

Gookin is not Googins in this case although apparently it was in some cases.

Anyway, I’m quite tickled that dinner ware proves the case.

So - Mary Googins married a man from Ireland (supposedly) and her father gave them a beautiful beach as a wedding gift.

There is confusion again on the Rogers side. Stackpole has only one Richard Rogers, son of Thomas. The Googins book has a Sr & Jr, but it’s vague narrative.

So need more sources.

Thats very Cool! What prompted you to go shopping.

I worked for a company that handled a lot of Christies items post auction items.
I had a lot of amazing things in my hands. Two I remember most were actual hand written Beatles Lyrics and Jimmy Hendrix guitar.

So the Parker's are your kin?

Ive seen it spelled Goggins as well.

No, Private User is related Parker’s, and is a profile manager.

So far Mary (Rogers) Googins is my 8th great grandmother's husband's second great niece. https://www.geni.com/path/Erica-Howton+is+related+to+Mary-Googins?from=363677820350011581&path_type=inlaw&to=6000000050760604885

I’m closer to Mary Parker - Mary (Gookin) Parker is my 7th great aunt's nephew's wife's mother. https://www.geni.com/path/Erica-Howton+is+related+to+Mary-Parker?from=363677820350011581&path_type=inlaw&to=6000000010801613712

So what about the play? What prompted you to go in that direction to find her?

9/14/2021 at 11:30 AM

Mary Rogers was listed by Stackpole as having married twice, 1) Googins 2) Parker, children with both men. This was impossible, so I went looking for any other Mary Googins / Gookins / Goodwin etc, and found the cousins who owned the Dummer serving platter.

9/14/2021 at 11:32 AM

That’s because you (Robert Moon) asked if Patrick Googins was ready to be made into a Master profile.
