I was reading the notes in the About section where it makes it seem as if only one source refers to this Nicholas Ias 'the Welshman' and that nothing else if found about that. I was just looking at the documents attached to his profile on Ancestry (he's one of my ancestors) and found a document entitled Colonial Families of the USA, 1607-1775 and in the Meriwether section is states this Nicholas I was born and died in Wales and has his son Nicholas II as the one who immigrated to America. It also lists his wife's maiden name as Wodenhouse. I'll attach the document under the Media tab.

The about section states that the documents that call him a Welshman weren't contemporary.

And Meriwether is a totally English name -- certainly English families could move to Wales, but that would be rare. Much more likely to be seeing Welsh families move to England.

So I would be (and am) Very Suspicious about the Welsh connection.
