I am trying to find some possible links to confirm a suspected link to to TEMPEST of Marton in Craven.
My TEMPEST tree shows a clear, well documented line back as far as my 6/7th Gt Grandfather, but then I meet some confusion.
I can outline my links to this, as follows:
1. Joseph Tempest 1703 - 1775 Kirkby Malham = Agnes Wharfe ,he was son of
2. James Tempest 1655 - 1730 Kirkby Malham = Jane Ridmond , he was son of
3. James Tempest abt 1642 [Could be Wigan, Lancashire] - 1679 Kirkby Malham, he could be the son of
4. William Tempest 1590 - 1659 Wigan = Alice Rigby This was the son of Edward Tempest, Curate, 1568 Marton - 1639, Lancaster.
EBT Vol 2, gives a clear link to 3. above ,giving a spouse as Elizabeth Bowles, daur of Sr William Bowles, but later noted in pencil "No" or something similar.
