Per interview notes of “John Fred Williams” in 1981 with “Young Kennard” and “Ernest Williams” (a descendant of Philip) and other conversations held with Ernest, “Ann (Vest) Williams” was a full-blooded Indian from the Great Lakes region (tribe unknown). Her Indian name was “Running Fawn,” NOT “Floating Cloud,” as has been propagated on many trees in apparent confusion with her mother-in-law “Keziah Elizabeth Brooks” whose Indian name was “Floating Cloud,” and whom is believed to be 50% Cherokee. Which would have made Ann’s husband “Philip Williams,” whose Indian name was “Buckspike” 25% Cherokee. [Reference: https://wc.rootsweb.com/trees/167117/I178/-/individual]
