About Afke Sieswerda
Honored as a "Righteous Among The Nations" at the Yad Vashem in Israel.
From 13 November 1943 to 16 April 1945 Afke and her daughter Tine hid Levie de Zwaan and Adelheid van der Heijden so that they would not be arrested and deported to a concentration camp. They hid them on their farm at Witmarsum.
Tine became very sick in 1944 and died of her illness. Afke at that time declared, "What Tine and I started, I will finish!"
For this act of heroism Afke and Tine were honored by Israel
