The FamilySearch profile for Gerrit Wolferts Suype [https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LYTC-8K2], husband of Styne Roberts [https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/LYTZ-ZQS] and father of Wolfert Gerritse Van Couwenhoven [https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/L2LV-Q2W] shows a birth date of about 1546, but no source is provided. None of the five pedigree charts attached to this profile support that date. A Pedigree Chart of Sarah Williamse Van Couwenshoven prepared 10-12-1999 by Emma Lee Case Minshew has a date of 1525 for G. Van Kouwenhoven, but no source is provided.

In contrast, the Van Kouwenhoven Family History (see Documents) provides a firm date of 1516, which is consistent with the detailed chronology of his life, including details such as "he was a schepen for ten of the years between 1541 and 1561. He was elected burgomaster of the city on St. Martin's Eve, 10 November 1553, when he was 38 years of age." Such details would have made a birth in 1546 impossible and even a birth in 1525 dubious.

That said, it may seem improbable that Gerrit would have married someone 32 years his junior or had his first child at age 59. However, all of the major genealogies listed below agree that the father of Wolfert Gerretse Van Kouwenhoven (however the name is spelled) died in 1604 and was married to Styne Roberts. And the details of his extensive political career might both explain the delay in getting married as well as the honor of being buried in the chancel of the church in Nijkerk. See:
