MRS. A. M. DWYER DIES AT AGE 88

Mother of the Late District Judge Edward Dwyer Funeral Tuesday

Mrs. Annette M. Dwyer, 88, member of one of the most prominent pioneer families of San Antonio, died Monday in the old Dwyer home, 125 Dwyer Avenue, where she had resided for 65 years.

Mrs. Dwyer was the mother of the late District Judge Edward Dwyer and many of her descendants have taken prominent parts in politics in Bexar County and occupied several positions of trust and importance. Dwyer Avenue was named for her family and the house in which she died was constructed by her husband 65 years ago.

She wns born in Chihuahua, Mexico, and was a daughter of Gen. James Magoffin of El Paso, and a niece of Gov. Beriah Magoffin of Kentucky. She married Maj. Joseph Dwyer in 186O in the old Menger Hotel.

Her surviving children are: Joseph E. Dwyer. Samuel J. Dwyer, James M. Dwyer, Patrick A. Dwyer, Mrs. George J. F. Schmitt, and Mrs. Thomas J. Leighton. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Tuesday morning.

The active pallbearers will be her grandchildren : Edward Dwyer, James E. Dwyer Jr., Samuel Dwyer Jr., Charles Dwyer, Patrick Dwyer Jr., and Sam E. Leighton.

The honorary pallbearers will be: John W. Tobin, Phil H. Wright. Ray Lambert, H. C. Carter. John Schorn. Judge S. G. Taylor, Jack R. Burke, James Stevens, Thad W. Smith, Nat M. Lewis, Dr. Frederick Terrell and William Sullivan.
