The crest as seen in Anthony's profile was the personal crest of himself, he used to seal his letters with. His father Johan (Jan) HODENPIJL and the brother of his grandfather, Johan Aldertsz. HODENPIJL, Mayor of Schiedam used the same crest as Anthony. His grandfather Adriaen Aldertsz. HODENPIJL used a different crest with the part of HODENPIJL in it at the right side. Hester Hodenpijl, Anthony's daughter changed the part of Hodenpijl for the part of Tromp for her children, which was the crest her husband Paulus Gijsberti did use. But Hester herself probably used the crest of HODENPIJL and nothing else, since the crest of Paulus GIJSBERTI and her crest of the village HODENPIJL were united for their wedding. [Recia]

Crest information (prooved personal crest of Anthony which he sealed his letters with): I Heemstede 2,2,2 and 1 merletten (ducklings without beak and legs, which some say stands for Knighthood), II Sootgens, in silver two blue fishes. Anthony Hodenpijl was Regent van het Proveniershuis te Schiedam (vermeld 1718 en 1719). Het Proveniershuis was een soort van oude van dagen tehuis waar Anthony de gelden van inde.
