About Aron Fraich Hir ap Rhys
See Peter Bartrum,https://www.geni.com/documents/view?doc_id=6000000173377782932 (January 28, 2017; Anne Brannen, curator)
Please see Bartrum: Early Tables #42 for the link between Aron and Rhys. But note that in Bartrum's Pedigrees of the Welsh Tribal Patriarchs, #35, Bartrum notes that Aron's "birth may be put somewhat doubtfully at about 1050. If so, about two more generations are required to make his pedigree chronologically satisfactory." (Steven Ferry, December 20, 2021.)
In reference to both comments above, please note that subsequent to publishing Welsh Tribal Patriarchs, Bartrum put out his extensive Welsh Genealogies AD 300-1400, which contains the chart that Anne Brannen references, "Aron Fraich Hir". In that chart, Bartrum dates the man to c. 1070 (Gen 2), while maintaining his father, Rhys ap Maredudd, in "Early Tables 42", at c. 970 (Gen 20). According to Darrell Wolcott, the problem stems from the addition of "Dda" to the "Hywel" in the pedigree. Wolcott also dates him at c. 1070 and points out that based on his descendants he was a Glamorgan man. (Note that he has a son, Morgan, a name not generally used in other areas of the country.) He charts him as Aron ap Rhys (1040) ap Maredudd (1010) ap Owain (975) ap Hywel (945) ap Owain (915) ap Morgan Hen (885.) (Steven Ferry, April 18, 2022.)
