Barbara Jane (McClintock) Jacobe died Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at her hme in Oil City, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, L. Howard "Jake" oJacobe.

Born on April 19, 1938, in Philadelphia, Barbara was a graduate of Central Bucks High School, Class of 1956.

She was known for making friends easily wherever she went, as well as having a deep dedication to her family, and those she befriended.

Many will remember her as a manager of Appalachian Trail Outfitters in Doylestown.

Barbara served many years as a Girl Scout leader, and as an election board volunteer. She also was a member of The Presby Pacers, a Relay for Life team of the American Cancer Society.

During her retirement, she and Jake enjoyed hiking throughout the United States while traveling in their motor home.

Barbara served as a Deacon at First Presbyterian Church of Lambertville, N.J., and was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church of Oil City.

She is survived by her son, John H. Jacobe and his wife, Jill, of Bolingbrook, Ill.; a daughter, Kathy L. Goodwin and her husband, Deane, of Oil City; a sister, Kathy Cornell and her husband, Alvin, of Holicong; and a brother, Bill McClintock and his wife, Anne, of White Stone, Va. She also is survived by her granddaughters, Alethea McLaughlin and her husband, Nathan, and Rebecca Bish and her husband, Curtis J., both of Oil City. Barbara leaves her wonderful great-grandchildren, Caleb and Katelyn Bish and Alex McLaughlin. Several loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other loving family members also survive her. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Shawn Goodwin.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 28, at Forest Grove Presbyterian Church of Forest Grove.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in her honor to The Presby Pacers. Checks should be made out to American Cancer Society and sent to The Presby Pacers, c/o Diane Harbison, 76 Paul Revere Road, Oil City, PA 16301.
