Benjamin Deane,1 son of Walter and Eleanor (Strong) Deane, was married to Sarah Williams, Jan. 6,1680 or'81. They settled in Taunton, Mass,and had children,—Naomi, Hannah, Israel (born Feb. 2,1685), Mary, Damaris, Sarah, Elizabeth, Mehitable, Benjamin (born July 31, 1699), Ebenezer (born Feb. 24, 1702), Lydia, and Josiah (born Oct. 23, 1707). His will was made Feb. 2, 1723, and probated April 14, 1725.
Ebenezer Deane, third son of Benjamin Deane,' married Rachel Allen, of Rehoboth, Jan. 19, 1709 or '10. He had several children, among whom were Joshua and Ebenezer. He marched with his son Joshua in defense of their country against the French and Indians. He was captain of a company, and served with distinction in that war.

Biography
Benjamin Dean(e) was a son of Walter Deane and Eleanor (Cogan) Deane, who married in New England in about 1640 or earlier, probably in Taunton, Massachusetts. Most of the early records of Taunton were destroyed by a fire in 1838,<ref>Marriages, Births and Deaths at Taunton, Mass. New England Historical and Genealogical Register vol. 16, October 1862, page 324</ref> and there is no known record of Benjamin's birth. Benjamin Dean(e) married Sarah Williams in Taunton, Massachusetts, on 6 January 1680/1. <ref>Plymouth Colony Records, New England Historical and Genealogical Register vol. 9, October 1855, page 316. His will, created on "this second day of february Anno Domini one thousand seven hundred twentytwo three In ye ninth year of ye Reign of our sovereign Lord George of Great Britain vz King," mentions eldest son Israel Dean, brother Ezra Dean (named as a adjoining landowner, not an heir), son Benjamin Dean, son Ebenezer Dean, daughter Hannah Richmond, daughter Mary Edson, daughter Damaris White, daughter Sarah Danforth, daughter Elisabeth Richmond, daughter Mehitable Richmond, daughter Lydia Dean, and beloved wife Sarah Dean.
