Was apprenticed to Major Nathan Gold until of age, and thus became one of the family. (Hist. of F.) Oct. 19, 1658. "The Court hath put John Dimond, with his consent, unto Lieutenant Gold till he is twenty-one years of age, who is faithfully to serve him, and he must have sufficient meat, drink and clothing, and twelve pounds at the end of his term, and he is not to be to his heirs or assigns. "William Hill, Secrefary." (F. T. Rec.)
He moved to New London, where he settled, and married Re- becca, widow of Thomas Minter, and daughter of James Bemis, of that place. (Sav. Gen. Diet.) Possibly the same person as mentioned in the New England Gen. Reg., vol. 6, as follows :
"Jonathan Dimont, 1672, one of the early settlers of Essex and Old Norfolk." Constable of New London in 1679. (Calkins' Hist, of New London.)
