Kriemhild, {Nibelungenlied}

Kriemhild is a fictional character based on Gudrun. She is sister to the Burgundian kings Gunther, Gernot, and Giselher. In the Nibelungenlied, the southern version of the story, Kriemhild marries Etzel, a fictional version of Attila the Hun, kills her brothers to get the Nibelung gold back, and is killed in turn by Dietrich von Bern.

No se sabe si Chrimschilde existio realmente ni si fue esposa de Atila, como tampoco se tienen registros sobre la mayoria de las docenas de esposas a lo largo de la vida de Atila. Es casi seguro que Atila haya tenido no una sino varias hijas con nativas de las tierras al sur del Danubio que empezo a ocupar desde 441. Siendo uno de sus principales aliados (y a su muerte el principal enemigo de los hunos), es muy probable que Adaric, líder de los gépidos, tuviera como esposa a una hija de Atila por via de Chrimschilde o por otra via.
