About Clinton James Tappy
Clinton James “Tapp” Tappy, 77, of Stoneham, passed away March 2, 2013, in Greeley. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at the Berean Church, with Dr. Gordon Anderson and Pastor Marshall Frazier officiating. Interment will be at Stoneham Cemetery.
Clinton was born Aug. 20, 1935, in Sterling to Marvin Ashby and Effie Ion (Stark) Tappy. He graduated from high school, continuing his education another year. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the Korean War.
He was a rancher in the cattle industry.
On June 2, 1957, he married Sharon V. Bartram in Sterling.
Clinton was a lifetime member of the Chapel of the Plains and past board member, past board member and president of Prairie High School, Gideon Society and Lions Club of New Raymer. He loved leading worship at church. He was an exceptional storyteller, especially when there was a good punchline involved. He recited cowboy poetry and was known to pen some original pieces as well.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Tappy of Stoneham; daughters, Tammie Pauling and husband David, Vicki Hawley and husband Jason, Sandi Younglund and husband Monty; sisters, Virginia Ballinger and Mary Knutson; sister-in-law, Janice Tappy; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Clinton was preceded in death by his parents; nephews, Matthew Tappy and Dale Knutson; brother, Lee Tappy; granddaughter, Andrea Whitlock.
