About Clyde Hamilton Farrow

entered prison in Peoria, Illinois

The Caruthersville community was deeply shocked yesterday morning when the report of the sudden and unexpected death of Clyde Hamilton Farrow, eldest son of Mrs. Callie Farrow of this city, became known. Death came to him some time during the early morning hours as he slept, for when members of the family went to call him for breakfast he did not respond and the sad truth was soon apparent-that the grim summons had come as he slept. That death was painless was evident in the undisturbed arrangement of pillow and covers and in the calmness of his expression, so it was quite evident that not the least pain or physical disturbance came to warn him of the approaching end.

Physicians were summoned, of course, but he was far past human aid, rigor mortalis at that time being well advanced. It was their opinion, and the verdict of a coroner's jury, based on such opinion, that death came from natural causes, specifically, an organic lesion of the heart. Mr. Farrow had apparently been in good health lately, excepting that he had suffered from an attack of flu, which had not been considered by himself or his physician of serious import, and he had only the day before made a drive with a party of friends to the neighborhood of Bloomfield to visit the pottery plant there and so far as any of his friends or members of the family knew, he was in his usual health and good spirits.

Clyde was a lifelong resident of Caruthersville, where he attended school and attained manhood's estate and he had reached the age of only a little more than 39 years-the bloom of manhood, as one may say, and with the prospect of many more years of usefulness bfore him. He is survived by a small son, Lee Woodward, now orphaned, for his mother passed away only a very few years ago. Of his own family there are his aged mother and three brothers (he being the eldest of the family)-Oscar and Raymond of this city, and Roy, whose home has been in Memphis for several years past. To these and to the mother of his deceased wife, Mrs. W.L. Hooper, with whom he made his home, his death comes as a very severe shock indeed.

He had been employed for many years by the Ward-Coppage interest's here-in fact, he almost "grew up" with the business, with which he became connected just after leaving school. He had acted as manager for the interests of R.F. Coppage, senior owner of the firm, in recent years and his death leaves a position which will be difficult for Mr. Coppage to fill immediately. He also was City Treasurer, to which post he had been electd a number of terms in succession, and this place will have to be filled by special city election. The deceased was a member of the Masonic order here, in which he had held several appointive or elective offices and of the Presbyterian church we understand, at which place the funeral is held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon. Three ministers are associated in conducting this service, the Revs. Elmer Peal and F.P. DeBolt of the Presbyterian deomination, and G.A. Shadwick of the Methodist church, and interment will be under auspices of the Masonic body at Little Prairie cemetery.
