Elizabeth Scruggs

DNA analysis from Ancestry DNA indicates connections to two possible 5th to 8th cousins. Both of these cousins have common ancestry only between their Edwards, Meadors and Scruggs families. In fact they both descend from John Edward Scruggs and Mary Edwards, but they descend from different children, Theodore Edward Scruggs and Meredith Scruggs. The only family name I have in common with them is Scruggs. My ancestor Sterling T Wallis married an Elizabeth and on her death certificate her daughter said she was a Scruggs. These data indicate that Elizabeth is most likely the daughter of John Edward Scruggs and Mary Edwards. A list of their children, which needs verification, includes a daughter named Bettie who was born about 1813. Elizabeth Scruggs was born 24 Feb 1813 in South Carolina, according to her grave stone. Additionally Meredith Scruggs came to Forsyth County with Sterling and John Edwards, Jr., brother of Mary Edwards Scruggs. Sterling is the executor on John Edwards Jr's will and John calls him a good friend.
